CASE STUDY — Organisational Change Management

K2 provided change management leadership for Marinus Link's digital separation from TasNetworks from mid-2023 to early 2024. The result was the successful introduction of a Microsoft 365 digital workplace for Marinus Link's 100+ geographically-dispersed workforce – all without any interruptions to business-critical work.

Activities included:

- Development of a clear and compelling narrative for the project

- Stakeholder management of TasNetworks and Marinus Link key stakeholders

- Planning and delivery of training to remote and office-based employees across multiple states

- Planning and roll-out of Marinus Link's first-ever independent SharePoint-based intranet

- Project update briefings for all employees

- Project engagement and coaching of leaders

- Ongoing change risk and issues management

- Meticulous digital workplace cutover planning

- Cutover communication to all employees on the introduction of new software, hardware (laptops, printers, etc) and networks, as well as cutover system freezes

- Full weekend cutover deployment with minute-by-minute execution of a cutover plan comprising specialists from two businesses (Marinus Link and TasNetworks)

- Post-cutover hypercare support to all employees

- And, most importantly, a CM approach that prioritised support for project leaders, executives and employees.

The Digital Workplace Project has since been repeatedly praised within Marinus Link for its approach to change management. The Program Manager himself wrote after the project's close:

'Wanted to pass on our thanks and appreciation for the work (K2) undertook in leading change management efforts for our DWP project. I am not alone in saying the quality of work has been outstanding – and it was very much acknowledged by the consistent feedback from team members and leadership alike.'
